Spring break was a little weird this year. I don't get why the Calgary Board of Education decides to do spring break the week before Easter. They had a week off only to go to school for 4 days and have Good Friday and Easter Monday off. Jeff had the week off after the kids spring break so we pulled them out of school for 4 days to go to Seattle to visit Jeff's sister. It was a somewhat last minute trip.
We mostly shopped and played with cousins but here are some other highlights:
We went to the Science Center.
The kids loved the butterfly exhibit at the Science Center.
And the dinosaur exhibit at the Science Center. It wasn't impressive only because we have been to the Tyrell Museum but the people down there think this exhibit is awesome!
This is a water wheel you can run in...like a hamster wheel.
The Space Needle was right outside the Science Center. In fact I took this picture from the courtyard of the Science Center.
Then we went to Rainforest Cafe to celebrate Jaden's birthday. It just so happened to be that kids eat for $2.99 that night.
We had to order the "volcano" for dessert. Our waiter forgot to sing to Jaden but she didn't notice because Cha Cha the frog happened to stop by to say Happy Birthday. That was good enough!
We went to this warehouse full of bouncy houses. The kids could have played there all day. They were sweaty and exhausted after just and hour and a half. I love this picture because Mylee wouldn't go down the slide by herself. She would wait at the top until she could go down with someone. When she did, she clung on for dear life and then would get up and bounce off and laugh so hard because it was so fun!!! One time she clung on to a complete stranger.
Then the first Thursday of every month they have free admission into the Museum of Flight fromn 5-9. I'm glad we decided to go on the free night because the kids were a little bored after an hour. But they did have some pretty neat planes in there.
Then we decorated easter eggs...
...had an easter egg hunt outside...
...and rolled our easter eggs down a hill. The boys thought it would be so awesome to haul this ramp for the eggs to go off of. We had to park the car and then walk a ways to the hill and the boys carried this ramp all the way there. It ended up being not as awesome as they thought. I think the grass was too long and the eggs didn't roll down very well. They ended up just chucking the eggs to watch them explode.
We drove all through the night to get home. The kids slept and it was the best way to travel. Jeff drove the whole way without stopping (except for gas). We left at 5pm and we got home at 5am. It was fun, the kids had a lot of fun and minus the shopping, it was a fairly inexpensive trip!
