Emerald Lake (Winter Wonderland)

We have had a busy last couple of weeks. Last weekend we went up to Edmonton for Jeff's work party. We went up Friday night and spent the night at my brother Brandon and Candice's place. Then Jeff's company paid for a hotel for Saturday. We had to bring the kids with us to Edmonton but Jeff's sister Julie was kind enough to take them on Saturday night for us. It was a good break for us to have a night with no kids. Cody was really sick with a fever and cold on Friday so I was really hesitant to go. I feel bad because he kept Julie up all night on Saturday. Thanks Julie...we owe you!

This last weekend my dad's company had their Christmas party. He takes them out to Emerald Lake for 2 nights and they have a weiner roast and a really nice dinner in the evening on Saturday. They had a girl in the office who just had a baby and was planning on coming but because she was so overdue and just had the baby on the Monday before, she wasn't up to coming so soon after having her first baby. So, because I am a casual spec writer for my dad, they decided to have us come in their place. Plus they needed someone to play Santa...(picture below). It is a winter wonderland out there. It is in Field BC, just before Golden on the Trans Canada highway. It was so amazing driving out there. The roads were completely clear until you hit the National Park. Then it was all of a sudden white and the roads were a little slushy. We get out to Emerald Lake and it is so beautiful with marshmallowy roofs and piles of snow everwhere. Above and below is looking out over the Emerald Lake. (I guess in the summer time this lake is very crystal blue. Unfortunately the lake was not frozen enough to go skating.

It is so amazing out there. You are right there in the middle of nowhere with this huge rocky mountains and snow surrounding you. I would love to see it in the summertime as well!
