Spruce Meadows

At Spruce Meadows yesterday was the opening of the horse jumping tournament with the Enbridge Cup. Because Jeff works for Enbridge they had a family BBQ for Enbridge employees and their families. Last year was beautiful for this tournament and well, we all know what the weather has been like lately. It poured yesterday and I thought for sure they would have postphoned the tournament. But nope...the show went on. Here is a picture of them presenting the Enbridge Cup to the winner. The picture was taken from inside where we sat to eat.

They had face painting for the kids. At all of Enbridge's parties they hire the same clown that does the facepainting and she is FABULOUS. Mylee sat so still with her eyes closed to get her face done. It was quite funny to watch her sitting there. She would not even peek until she was completely done! They had a display of birds from the "Birds of Prey" exhibit from Coaldale I believe. The kids got to hold a couple different owls...

...and Jeff sat patiently like a little kid waiting to hold the golden eagle. This poor eagle was shot in the eye and was completely blind. They rescued him from the wild. Jeff was so giddy on the way home because he just held an eagle. He is fascinated by different birds.
And of course there were soo many rain puddles to jump in walking back to the car.
Mylee couldn't resist!!!
